“Time and tides wait for no man”(Chaucer) and there is a time… when you know that you must act, that you know that this is your last chance to make something happen and you commit to change. We are all human and the actions of other people sometimes have a greater effect on us than our own desires. That this gentleman who didn’t know me, who I never saw again, had made the effort to come and visit me a second time specifically to bring me this CD and to help a fellow human being, made me feel both challenged and grateful. With Wendi Friesens self hypnosis CD in hand, the example of my brilliant young juniors and the pressure of a time limit for ownership of my car, the time had come. I mentally committed to the task of learning to drive. 

It wasn't easy, there were tears. For despite commitment and thought change I still had to overcome fear. But despite sceptical thoughts I listened to the CD. On the CD I was given Wendi explains what hypnosis does and doesn’t do so I had very little fear about trying it. I closed my eyes as instructed and followed what she said to do.I'd like to say that my life changed overnight just for the drama of it but in fact, that first time very little changed at all. 

I allowed myself to let her voice relax me into a light trance and when she asked me to visualise myself doing what I wanted to do, I started to imagine myself driving and the day I would hold a P license in my hand.I expected hypnosis to create dream vivid visualisations but it was more like day dreaming really. I was easily distracted at first and doubted that it was working for I didn't feel any different or feel that I was really hypnotised.

I stuck with it though because the man who gave it to me had told me I should listen and follow several times so that I learned to be hypnotised. Each time I did, like he said, it became a little easier to allow the trance and to focus on imagining myself driving. The dreams were no more vivid but my state of relaxation increased. More importantly, I stayed committed to my purpose and began to tentatively believe that I could really get beyond the L stage and pass my driving test.

I have been driving nearly three years now. I no longer shake or feel sick when I think of driving, although long drives to unfamiliar places still make me feel nervous before I start. Generally when I’m in the car and driving though, it feels as normal as walking through a crowded shopping centre. You don’t think about not bumping into people, you just don’t. You keep your eyes open and your self on course instinctively. Most driving is just about following the car in front anyway.

Wendi’s hypnosis helped me to stay calm through the hours of driving practice that I had to do to enable this instinct to become second nature. I allocated enough money for instructor lessons (approximately 8) and my dad took me out to get the hours of practice I needed to learn the muscle memory that only doing a task can give you. Knowing when to look is only the start, and both instructors emphasized about doing it because looking without thinking is an essential safeguard and only constant practice can make you do this.

Do you have something you want to do, but fear and a kind of inertia that other people might call procrastination is stopping you from doing, stopping you from even trying to do? I hope you can understand from my story what it is you need to change. I hope you can see that it is YOU who are saying to yourself that you cannot and believe me when I reply that "it ain't necessarily so'! Belief alone cannot make you learn the task but your belief that YOU can learn will allow you to try. I think that a belief that says you can't, is not a belief at all, but fear.

If you are saying to other people, “I can’t” then it’s a good bet that you’re telling yourself that you can’t too. This is inertia. When you are unsure about something, perhaps you are afraid or phobic, perhaps you just can’t make up your mind that it’s the right thing to do, this is another form of inertia; an unwillingness to commit. To overcome this you need to compare the benefits of doing or not doing and ask yourself which is greater. If the only benefit for not doing it is so that you don't experience the nasty nerves, self hypnosis can help. When you are ready to commit to your project, then you will go from, “I can’t” to “I will.”

When you are at that stage you will unthinkingly send out messages that ask for help to complete your project and because you are positive and committed, you will attract that which you need . You can help the law of attraction by focusing on your goal. Plan it, finance it, talk about it, get help with it and by imagination and visualisation you will help to enable the fantasy to become reality.

If you have difficulty just sitting in a chair and doing this, then hypnosis will help you imagine your heart’s desire. By relaxing you into a trance you no longer feel the restless need to get up and do this or that or let your thoughts wander and worry about how silly you feel but are simply guided with words to focus on and concentrate on imagining what you want to do as being already completed. You are guided to imagine the actual steps you need to complete to make this thing happen. Many people believe that your brain cannot tell the difference between what you see in imagination and what you see that is real and this is the base foundation for the Law of Attraction.Watch the videos "The Secret" and "What the bleep do we know" to learn more.
